Responsibilities:
The Controls Specialist must install, diagnose, repair, and replace electrical systems and electrical components of industrial machinery and equipment.
Replace defective components and wiring.
Must support programming, project implementation and network integration, calibration, and troubleshooting.
Must be proficient in understanding industrial control systems and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
Troubleshoot Allen Bradley and other plant PLCs including connecting to the PLC, reading ladder and function chart logic, programming, and diagnosing hardware and software problems.
Maintain and upgrade the plant industrial control systems.
The Controls Specialist must support predictive and preventative maintenance programs and internal projects.
Must ensure compliance with Process Change Request (PCR) policies.
Troubleshoot and maintain control panels using relay logic, process control valves, pneumatic control systems, hydraulic control systems, metal detection systems, ink jet coding systems, electronic scale systems, and electronic meters.
Troubleshoot motor starters, relays, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and servo motors and controls.
The Controls Specialist must follow all established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe, quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of our SQF program.
Accountable to all Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles.
Qualifications:
The Controls Specialist must have a high school diploma or GED.
Must have a minimum of 3 years PLC and HMI programming experience.
Must come from a manufacturing/ production/ packaging background.
Food industry experience is a plus.
Must have thorough knowledge of instrumentation, including calibration, repair and installation.
Proficient with electrical safe work practices, reading/modifying electrical prints/control schematics, VFD/motor control, PC/IPC hardware and software, industrial control networks, pneumatic and hydraulic valves, proximity sensors, limit switches, circuit breakers, and fuses, AC/DC electrical theory.
Must be able to read/interpret mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, and parts specifications.
Excellent communication skills, and written instructions.
Must be able to work in fast-paced food and beverage manufacturing sector.
Must be flexible in shift including nights and weekends.
Must be a local candidate willing to work onsite.
